What is ITF Seafarers?

ITF Seafarers is a section of the International Transport Workers’ Federation focused on protecting and advancing the rights of seafarers globally.

 

ITF can help recover unpaid wages through direct action, legal support, and communication with shipowners or flag states on your behalf.

Contact ITF immediately. We can assist with food, medical care, repatriation, and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure your safety and return home.

Yes, ITF offers legal support to seafarers facing unfair treatment, abandonment, or contractual violations.

What support is available for my family during a crisis?

ITF manages emergency funds like the Seafarers’ Emergency Fund (SEF), which offers financial support to families affected by sudden crises.

Yes. ITF investigates and acts on reports of abuse, exploitation, or poor working conditions, and helps ensure that seafarers are treated fairly and with dignity.

Where possible, ITF ensures access to shore leave for medical care and will advocate for urgent treatment if you’re denied it.
